Note to self: Don't EVER use a telephoto lens to shoot landscapes in low light, if at all.
Now that that's out of the way, I'm finding landscape shots a challenge to shoot for a myriad of reasons: The light needs to be just right; tripods are a near necessity; if you want trees in the foreground, include the WHOLE thing, else it's a distraction; shoot when there's a lot of the right light, so as to keep the image sharp and crispy; have locations predetermined, but don't hesitate to peel off the beaten path and try to find something off-the-wall; and did I mention the light quality?
It's made for a fun assignment, even if all my preliminary shots were shot down like so many aircraft. Ahh well, if at first you don't succeed...

Chis, I know there is a lot to think about - Photography is not easy! However, you need to utilize all the skills we have learned so far every time you shoot! (Also, you need to start remembering to make it before 7:20am to return you camera or you will lose the priviledge.)
ReplyDeleteOne more thing - please don't advise others not to use a telephoto. There are many times when it is the right lens to use. There are many factors to consider when shooting and lens choice is one of them!
ReplyDeleteI shot all of my pictures with the telephoto lens.
