  1. Both articles were very illuminating, and I can see how many of the tips are going to be helpful in the upcoming assignments. I really appreciated knowing when are the best times to use manual focus. It's been very frustrating, especially using the stronger lens, to have to re-take the shot multiple times before it gets right. Hopefully, after some practice of course, manual focus will alleviate some of that frustration.

  2. manual works very well for me in low lights. last week i used ISO125, SS 40 F,4.0 to take picture in the auditorium during international night. i got the color that i'm not gonna get it if i use auto, because when i use auto the camera set the shutter speed into 3, it makes the picture little bit blurry.

  3. I thought the article on overexposure was very interesting and the extra light gave the photos a completely different feel than had they been properly exposed. The manual focus was also a good reinforcement of what I had just recently discovered which is that sometimes you have to switch to manual focus or the camera won't focus on what you want.

  4. I really thought that the over exposure article was very interesting. I have a lot of over exposure problems when I am shooting and it was very cool to see that over exposure can actually turn out beautiful. My favorite over exposure shot was the one of the log on the beach. The shot made the log look beautiful and the beach peaceful. It probably wasn't even that sunny but because of the over exposure, it definitely made it seem like it.

  5. Both articles proved very enlightening with their information. The overexposure article particularly proved interesting, as it seemed that in their overexposing their shots, they were able to get a color intensity I would not expect from suck low ISO settings. Could this be a factor of the extra light? Also, the situations illustrated in the Manual Focus advocacy piece are going to prove useful in the coming days, especially with macro shots.

  6. Wow, I always thought over exposure was bad! I always found it a bit interesting sometimes when I did over expose things, but now I know it is okay sometimes to do it, especially when it does make something pop out more.

It was a beautiful and peaceful shot and it makes me want to go to the beach!

  8. As far as manual focus goes, I've tried it a few times. It works well when your camera isnt focusing on what you want. I've had it happen a few times when I'm like 'NO! That's no the subject I want!' Darn camera, thinking it knows everything...I LOVED the pictures in over-exposure. I experimented (kind of on accident) with that concept a while ago and posted a picture. I love the concept of creativity with lighting. The pictures in the article are PHENOMINAL! I love the effects it gives. Like the one of the woman between the two couches. The blasting light in the background makes it like nothing else matters only the major choice that she has to make (is what it seems) Anyway..I totally love looking at what other people are doing. It's AMAZING!

  9. wow overexposure is awesome, in each photo the same tech. is used but you gather a different feeling from each . now manual focus, i've tried it, it isnt easy but i agree it does give you more power for what your trying to focus on in your shot and can be helpful!

  10. Well I thought it was a great critique and liked everybodys photos. I really liked the photos in the overexposure article. It really shows that you can break the rules and still make a beautiful photograph. Also the manual focus article had some great tips, i've always found myself shooting on manual just because I like being in control of my photographs and these tips will hopefully help me in the future.

  11. I was experimenting with manual focus a little this week so I really enjoyed the article of specific examples of when to use it.
As for overexposing, some of those pictures were really nice. I liked the first one of the girl because her eyes really popped. I loved the black and white one of the hallway with the girl's shadow. However, I didn't like the pictures that were complete white out. I don't think it really added anything to the photo and I think overexposing looks best when it emphasizes a particular part of the subject. Still, they make me want to go play with exposure. :)

  12. I really like all the photos because each one made me stop for a second to appreciate the technique that was used. My favorite was the first over exposed picture of the girl because the light complimented her eyes.

  13. I enjoyed seeing the guidelines of exposure broken with extraordinary results. I like the picture on the beach a lot. More than the exposure article, I liked the article about manual focus. I really agree with the advantages of manual focus because I have been using it the whole time. Early in the semester, auto focus frustrated me as many of my photos include objects in the foreground that aren't the focus.

I really enjoyed some of the over exposure shots although I did not enjoy all of them. What I liked that both articles said was that there are really no rules to photography just results. Also the manual focus article was good to read because I think that everyone should utilize the manual focus option to make taking some shots easier.

  15. Cool! My favorite photo in either of those articles was absolutely the dew on the leaf, closely followed by the driftwood on the beach and the view from the train window. I LOVE the overexposure pics, I'd love to experience with that. And I definitely understand the advantages of manual focusing better now. :)

  16. The article on over-exposure really showed me that you dont have to play by the book when taking our photos. I never realized that breaking one of the rules, over exposure, could give more depth to a photo and make it look amazing.
